John W. Greer
John W. Greer, 65 of Coxton, was born on Tuesday, May 31, 1949 and passed from this life on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at his home.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Kelles R. Greer SR and Virginia Osborne Greer and his brother, Denver Greer.
He is survived by his brother, Rev. Kelles Greer JR and wife, Jwan; his sister-in-law, Lou Greer; his niece, Mary and husband, Kyle Abner; his nephew, Kelles (Pete) Greer III. His great-nieces, Amanda Abner, Courtney Greer, Katelyn Greer, and Kimber Madon and his great-nephew, Kelles Greer IV. A special family member, Pearl Turner; his aunts, Lucille Jones, and Ruby Selvin. His cousins, Wanda Burkhart, Jackie Osborne, Linda Osborne, and Betty Osborne. Special friends, Harold Taylor, Clarence Perkins and the Perkins Family and also the Coxton Community.
Funeral services will be Friday April 3, 2015 at 2 PM at the Full Gospel Church of God of Coxton, KY with the Rev. Greg Eldridge & Bro. Jack Rigney officiating. Burial will follow at Ages/Brookside Cemetery with Claude Wilson, Sheb Wilson, Clarence Perkins, Keith Perkins, Rick Perkins, Kyle Abner, Pete Greer & Hubert Jackson serving as Pallbearers. Visitation is Thurs. April 2, 2015 after 5 PM at the Full Gospel Church of God of Coxton, KY.
Pearl Robbins, 106, of Louellen, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Roger Clem, 64 of Putney, was born on Wednesday, January 3, 1951 at Rosspoint, KY and died on Monday, March 30, 2015 at UK Hospital in Lexington, KY. TruCheck employed Roger for the past several years. His father, Roger Clem; his brother, Bob Clem; his uncles, Murph Clem, Hubert Clem, Earl Clem and Curt Clem; his aunt, Goldie Hall; and his brother-in-law, Gus Sargent, precede him in death.
His wife, Jeanette Clem; his mother, Mary Lou Sowards Clem; his sisters, Glenda “Sis” Sargent and Louise Espy & husband, Tom; his Aunts, Argylene Clem, Marie Clem, Helen Newson & Hester Baker survive him along with a host of nieces, nephews’ family and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 3, 2015 at 1PM in the Chapel of Henson & Rich Funeral Home with Rev. Homer Johnson & Rev. Brent Lively officiating. Burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery of Rosspoint, KY.
Pallbearers will be, Jerry Brooks, Dewayne Williams, Jack Clem, Bill Clem, Jeff Espy, Eric Espy & Murph Clem Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be, Eric McCarty & Dan Buffa. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 5-8 PM in the Chapel of Henson & Rich Funeral Home.
Polly Griffin (Miss Polly) Bloomer, 86, of Wallins went to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. She was born February 13, 1929 in Cawood, KY. Polly enjoyed cooking, socializing with friends and never met a stranger; she also enjoyed going to church and listening to Bluegrass music.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Bloomer; her parents, Bill Griffin and Liz Short Griffin; one daughter, Audrey Bloomer; two sisters, Margaret Price and Nancy Pridmore; and one brother, Hardin Griffin.
Polly is survived by three children, Pat Bloomer Saylor and husband Freddie, Wallins; Bill Bloomer, Wallins; and Alpha Bloomer Kilburn and husband Blaine, Somerset, KY; one granddaughter, Melissa Rice and husband Shawn, Stanford, KY; and one great-granddaughter, Taylin Rice, Stanford, KY.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Harlan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, in the chapel of Harlan Funeral Home with Reverend Eli Craig officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Paul Dewey Cornett, 69, of Cumberland passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Paul was born on April 20, 1945 to Leslie and the late Della Melton Cornett. He was a retired coal miner, and owned and operated Cornett Furniture in Cumberland.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Loretta Harris Cornett, two sons, Paul David Cornett and wife Kelly, Brian Cornett and wife Freida. Four grandchildren Tyler, Amber, Zach, and Kailey. His brothers and sisters, Rueben and Phyllis Cornett, Lona and the late Jim Polly, Lestie and Mary Cornett, Beulah and the late Ken Goins, and Christina and Larry Caudill. And a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home from 6-9 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev. Roger Colinger, and Rev Jody VanSickle officiating. Following the funeral services burial will be in the Boggs Family Cemetery in Oven Fork, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Charles Schubert, 71, of Cumberland, passed from this life on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at his home. He was born January 5, 1944 to the late Homer and Molly King Schubert. After graduating from the University of Kentucky he went to work for the Harlan County Board of Education as a teacher and coach at Cumberland High School where he coached the Lady Skins for many years.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, John, and Joe Schubert.
He is survived by his wife Carol Dudash Schubert, of Cumberland, his children, Brian Schubert and wife Cindy, of Nicholasville, Ky, Debra Schubert, of Cumberland, and Jonathan Powell, of Cumberland. Two brothers Jack and Bill Schubert. And a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church in Cumberland from 6-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the church with Rev. Dennis Williams officiating.
Following the funeral services burial will be in the Monte Vista Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
