John L. "Bob" Osborne

Due to inclement weather, the funeral service for John L. "Bob" Osborne have been postponed.
Graveside services are now scheduled for 1 pm Friday at the Park Howard Cemetery at Wallins.
John L. "Bob" Osborne, 82, of Wallins, entered Eternal Rest on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his home following an illness. He was a native of Wallins and had lived here most of his life. Bob was a retired insurance investigator for Equifax and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Bob served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps; he was a Kentucky Colonel as well as a charter member of the Harlan County Rescue Squad. He volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center and with the Harlan ARH Auxiliary.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, E.W. Osborne and Bettie Noe Osborne; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife Della, with whom he celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past Christmas Eve; two daughters, Phyllis Sizemore, Wallins; and Darla K. Sexton and husband Terry, of Wallins; one son, Michael E. Osborne and wife Robin, of Corbin; one brother, Pearl B. Osborne and wife Mona, of Wallins; one sister, Mary Lou Blair and husband Terry, of Springboro, OH; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Tuesday evening at Harlan Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at the Park Howard Cemetery at Wallins. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be directed to one of Bob's favorite organizations, Harlan Senior Citizens Center, Meal Delivery Program, P.O. Box 1246, Harlan, KY 40831, or Hospice of the Bluegrass - Mountain Heritage, P.O. Box 189, Harlan, KY 40831.
Harlan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I didn't know about it in time to make it to visitation but know that I will be thinking of you and your family tomorrow.

So sorry to hear about Bob. He was always so good to me. I will never forget picking up chestnuts behind your house with Bob, Uncle John Henry and Pappaw. Just think, they are all three together now and all we can do is live our lives as good as they did and strive to be with them once again. We are all so sorry that we could not make it down to be with you but please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I love you all.
