Paul Dewey Cornett, 69, of Cumberland passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Paul was born on April 20, 1945 to Leslie and the late Della Melton Cornett. He was a retired coal miner, and owned and operated Cornett Furniture in Cumberland.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Loretta Harris Cornett, two sons, Paul David Cornett and wife Kelly, Brian Cornett and wife Freida. Four grandchildren Tyler, Amber, Zach, and Kailey. His brothers and sisters, Rueben and Phyllis Cornett, Lona and the late Jim Polly, Lestie and Mary Cornett, Beulah and the late Ken Goins, and Christina and Larry Caudill. And a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home from 6-9 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev. Roger Colinger, and Rev Jody VanSickle officiating. Following the funeral services burial will be in the Boggs Family Cemetery in Oven Fork, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Charles Schubert, 71, of Cumberland, passed from this life on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at his home. He was born January 5, 1944 to the late Homer and Molly King Schubert. After graduating from the University of Kentucky he went to work for the Harlan County Board of Education as a teacher and coach at Cumberland High School where he coached the Lady Skins for many years.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, John, and Joe Schubert.
He is survived by his wife Carol Dudash Schubert, of Cumberland, his children, Brian Schubert and wife Cindy, of Nicholasville, Ky, Debra Schubert, of Cumberland, and Jonathan Powell, of Cumberland. Two brothers Jack and Bill Schubert. And a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church in Cumberland from 6-9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the church with Rev. Dennis Williams officiating.
Following the funeral services burial will be in the Monte Vista Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Ernest Walter Moore, 53, of Evarts, passed away suddenly Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born February 17, 1962 in Benham, he had lived in Harlan County all of his life. Ernest was a coal truck driver for H & N Trucking and a member of the Cumberland Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Moore and Geraldine Hall Moore; and a grandmother, Carrie Hall.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Vickie Ball Moore, Evarts; three children, Ernest Moore II and Kaitlin Moore, both of Evarts; and Jeffrey Smith, London; one brother, Ricky Moore and wife, Stacey, Putney; one sister, Tonya Daugherty and husband, David, Lancaster; and a granddaughter, Kingsley Moore. Also surviving is a host of other family and friends including mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorene Pace and Michael Pace; brother-in-law, Phillip Ball and wife, Tracey; nieces and nephews, Mariah Edens, Christian, Hannah and Hezekiah Daugherty; great-niece, Rayna Edens; uncle and aunt, Denny Hall and wife, Karen; cousins and their children, Gavin Hall, Amanda Rutherford, Megan Saylor, Austin Marissa and Khalie Rutherford and Brycen Saylor.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2015, from 5 until the funeral hour at the Evarts Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7 PM in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Glenn Daugherty and Reverend Dennis Williams officiating. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 AM at the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
James Charles Nolan, 65, of Defiance, OH, formerly of Rosspoint, passed away March 9, 2015 following a long illness. He was born June 2, 1949 to the late Leon and Grace (Bowling) Nolan.
Aside from his parents he is preceded in death by sister, Vernice Fox. In addition to his wife, daughter, and granddaughter, he is survived by a brother, William (Regina) Nolan, sister Carol (Dewey) Cavins, nephews, Dale and Troy Fox, David Nolan, Adam and Andrew Cavins, niece, Abigail Johnson, Edgar, DeShay, and Goldman Bowling, and aunt, Lois Jean Bradford.
At his request, no services were held.
Truman Jones, age 64, of Cawood, KY passed away March 25, 2015 at Continue Care Hospital at Baptist Health, Corbin, KY. He was born May 12, 1950 in Harlan, KY to the late Gervis and Eliza Mills Jones. He was a bookkeeper and accountant with Harlan Cumberland Coal. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Cawood, KY. He was a former treasurer for the Upper Cumberland Baptist Association.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Carol Jones of Cawood, KY, sons, Chris (Tara) Jones of Corbin and Brian (Madison) Jones of Norris, TN, granddaughters, Lindsay and Hannah Jones of Corbin, brothers Tommy Jones of Hazard, KY and Jack Jones of Kingston, TN, sisters-in-law, Wanda (Wayne) Ramsey of Farmers Mill, Helen (Don) Halcomb of Harlan, brothers-in-law, Calvin (Jean) Hensley of London, KY,George (Minerva) Hensley of Browning Acres, Bill (Ursula) Hensley of Cawood, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, March 27 from 5 to 7PM at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 7PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant with Reverends Gary Craig, Sr., Doug Daniel and Stephen Daniel officiating. Burial will be Saturday, March 28 at 12PM at Resthaven Cemetery with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
