Calvin Turner, 73, of Big Laurel, passed from this life on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN. He was born in Harlan County and had lived here most of his life. Calvin was a Master Logger and heavy equipment operator, and wasn't afraid of hard work. He enjoyed fishing and collecting antiques, and loved his family.
Calvin Turner, 73, of Big Laurel, passed from this life on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN. He was born in Harlan County and had lived here most of his life. Calvin was a Master Logger and heavy equipment operator, and wasn't afraid of hard work. He enjoyed fishing and collecting antiques, he loved his family and was a great friend to all he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mabel Turner; two brothers, Kilburn and Luke Turner; and four infant siblings.
Survivors include his children, Anna Russ and husband Scott; Russell Turner and wife Christie; Kermit Turner and wife Jennifer; Calvin Joe Turner; William Denver Peto; Gracie Gail Barth; and Terry Lee Peto; three brothers, Justin Turner, Sam Turner and Denver Turner; and four sisters, Charlene Toscano, Mayrene Tolliver, Laura Dicks and Deborah Troutman.
Also surviving are a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 pm Wednesday evening at Harlan Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 8 pm with Rev. Eugene Harris officiating.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, TN 37620, in memory of Calvin Turner.
Harlan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
