Annie Ruth Halcomb was born June 08, 1922 at Delphia, KY and passed from this life on March 5, 2015 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, KY being 92 years, 8 months, and 25 days of age. She was the daughter of the late Preston Sr. and Mary Shepherd Hall. Annie Ruth was a Christian for 77 years, a member of the Big Leatherwood First Baptist Church, and a retired Postmaster of 32 years. She was married December 6, 1941 to the late Kester Halcomb, Sr., and to this union was born one son, Kester Halcomb, Jr.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
Survivors include her son, Kester Halcomb, Jr. and wife, Thelma, of Eolia, KY; brother, Carter Hall and wife, Quinna, of Delphia, KY; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Big Leatherwood First Baptist Church at Delphia, KY on Saturday, March 07, 2015, between 6 -9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the church on Sunday, March 08, 2015, at 12 pm with Reverend Eddie Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Whispering Pines Cemetery in Delphia, KY with nephews and friends serving as pallbearers.
Dennis Bradley Farley, 57, of Evarts, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at his home. He was born December 4, 1957 in Harlan County, and had lived here most of his life. He spent many years in the coal mines and working on tobacco farms. Dennis believed in the Christian faith and he was a very loyal and loving family member who spent his life helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shone Bradley Farley, Jr. and Mildred Baker Farley.
Survivors include his son, Anthony Wynn, Georgia; two grandchildren; a sister, Claudetta Faye Ledford and husband, Jeff, Evarts; a brother, Joe Milwee, Michigan; two nephews, Earl B. Coffey and wife, Tonya, Evarts; and Jeffrey A. Ledford and girlfriend, Courtney Stanton, Evarts; a niece Natasha B. Hester and husband, Alan Bennett, Evarts; a great-nephew, Dylan Bradley Rhea Coffey, Tennessee; three great-nieces, Brooke Hester, Evarts; Cassondra Coffey, Cumberland; and Bridget Greene, Evarts. Also surviving are two special friends, Donald Day and Charles Helton, both of Evarts; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday after 4:00 PM until the funeral hour at the Kildav Community Church. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 9, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the Kildav Community Church. Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Gary Wayne Hughett, 61 of Maynardville, Tennessee, formerly of Harlan, KY died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in the Tennova North Knoxville Medical Center. He was a native of Harlan, Kentucky; he believed in the Holiness faith and he was a self-employed contractor.
Proceeding him in death are his parents, Iona Mae and Robert Hughett and grandparents, Lawrence and Lillie Taylor.
Surviving are one son, Gary Hughett, Jr. of Indiana; two daughters, Michelle Hughett of Texas and Tonya Turner of Harlan; one brother Bo Hughett of Georgia; two sisters, Teresa Hughett of Georgia and Beverly Hughett Middleton of Harlan, KY. Two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM with the Rev. Joey Robertson officiating. Interment will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY.
