 Ellis "Eli" Litteral, age 53, of Harlan, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 following several months battling cancer. He was a native of Greenfield, OH and was a self-employed general contractor. Eli was preceded in death by his father, Walter E. "Buck" Litteral.

Survivors include his fiancé, Mary Kinder of Harlan; his mother, Cora J. Litteral, of Waynesboro, VA; a son, Jason Litteral and wife Ashley, of Chillicothe, OH; a daughter, Darci Litteral of Greenfield, OH; step-son, Edwin Dewayne Kinder, of Loyall; step-daughter, Marlana Snyder and husband Derick, of Loyall; two sisters, Patricia G. Kneislay and fiancé John Gergely, of Waynesboro, VA; Della Ruth Roust, of Elkhart, IN; two brothers, Walter E. "Geno" Litteral and wife Kris, of Gastonia, NC; and Carter "Leo: Litteral, of Wayneboro, VA.

Also surviving are five grandchildren: Emma Litteral, Colton Litteral, Gabrielle Snyder, Isabelle Snyder and Alyssa Kinder; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial services for Eli will be held at a later date, when, as he requested, he will be laid to rest high atop the peaceful beauty of the mountains he loved so much.
