David Lewis, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at his residence in Lynch, KY. He was born February 17, 1944 to the late Floyd and Chelca Shepherd Lewis in Harlan County, KY.
David served his country proudly in the United States Army and was disabled.
He is survived by his children, Harold Lewis of Delphia, Elsie Cornett and Tammy Johnson of Cumberland, Donna Lewis of Whitesburg, and David Leon Lewis of Harlan; and a host of other family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date for Mr. Lewis.
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Rebecca Sue Hensley Tallant, 69, of Corbin, formerly of Harlan County, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Cumberland Village Health and Rehabilitation Center in LaFollette, TN. Born November 22, 1945 in Twila, KY, she worked as a beautician and was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Corbin, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Hensley and Leona Brock Hensley.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, David Tallant, Corbin; two sons, David Tallant, Jr. and wife Shanda, Corbin and Tracy Hensley, London; three step-children, Cynthia Langan; Denise Goodyear and husband, Kent Paul; and Scott Hernal Steen, all of Michigan; two sisters, Joyce Lawson and husband Lawrence, Corbin and Barbara Agrossa, Texas; and one brother, Eugene Hensley, Michigan. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of friends, family and relatives.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Corbin with funeral services starting at 7 p.m. with Hershell Walker and Pastor Dennis McCoy officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, in the Hensley Cemetery, located in Smith, KY. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Freida Hightower Noe
Freida Hightower Noe, 67 of Barbourville, KY formerly of Harlan, died on Wednesday, April 28, 2015 at her home. Freida was born Thursday, October 21, 1948 to the late Virgil Lee & Ada Hensley Hightower. Freida was a customer service representative for World Finance and believed in the Christian Faith.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three brothers; Eric, Larry & Doug Hightower.
Freida is survived by her husband, James Noe of Barbourville, KY. One son, Michael Dale Pennington & wife, Melodie of Nolansburg, KY. Three step-children, Sherry Wheelhouse, Greg Noe & Tina Cancio all of Ohio. Two grandchildren, Brandon Pennington of Harlan and Erica (Daniel) Trammell of Nolansburg. Step-grandchildren, Brian Noe & Brandi Noe of both Cincinnati, OH; & Brandon Noe of Ft. Thomas, KY. Two great grandchildren; Tyler Trammell & Donovan Roberts. Four step-great grandchildren, Connor, Sophie, Alexis & Lola Noe. Her brothers, David (Libby) Hightower of Putney and Charles (Linda) Hightower of Dayton, OH. Her sisters, Linda Barfield of Portsmouth, OH., Delores Stewart of Jackson, OH., Phyllis (Morty) Lockert of South Webster, OH., Vera Roof of Sciotoville, OH., Gary (Mary) Hightower of Portsmouth, OH., Terry (Dee) Hightower of South Webster, OH. And Virgil (Tammy) Hightower of Wheelersburg, OH. In addition, a host of aunts, several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o’clock on Saturday, May 2nd 2015 in the Chapel of Henson & Rich Funeral Home with the Rev. David Overbay Officiating. Burial will follow at ResthavenCemetery with Brandon Pennington, Daniel Trammell, Shawn Hightower, Kenneth Hightower, Brandon Noe & Brian Noe serving as pallbearers.
Remine (Ray) Collett, 91, of Cottondale, FL passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2014. He was born April 23, 1923 in Leslie County, KY to James and Nancy Muncy Collett. He worked as a coal miner in Harlan, in the Baltimore ship yard, and the steel mill in New Jersey. He served his country proudly in the United States Army.
He is survived by his children, Imogene (Fred) Camacho of Gordanville, TN, Geraldine McKnight King of Mary Alice, KY, Clifford (Delta) Collett of Shelbyville, IL, and Lucille (Lu) Sturgill of Lynch, KY; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church, 408 Spring Street, Cumberland, KY with Reverend Dennis Williams officiating.

Gene Edward Pressnell, 90 of Harlan passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Harlan ARH. Gene was born August 5, 1924 in Briceville, TN to the late John and Alice Williams Pressnell. He was retired route agent with the Knoxville News Sentinel. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served his country during WW II.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, William A. and Verlin Pressnell; a sister, Vireda Lindsey.
He is survived by his nephew, Denny Pressnell of Florida and niece, Sissy Hessnius of Virginia.
Visitation will be Thursday, (April 30) from 5 until 7:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be private at the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY.
Dominique Nicole Ann Webb, 20, of Harlan, entered heaven’s eternal gates Sunday, April 26, 2015, at her home following a long illness. Born December 22, 1994, she was a lifelong resident of Harlan County.
Survivors include her parents, Charles R. Webb and Ruby M. Neal Webb, Harlan; three sisters, Marie Webb, Sunshine; Ruby Ann Webb, Cawood; Mary “Cookie” Traxler and husband, Jeremy, Page; two brothers, Toby Raymond Webb and wife, Angela, Harlan; Perry Lee Webb and wife, Brittany, Rio Vista; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 1, 2015, at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with her family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Lonnie Huff, 71 of Dayhoit, died April 22, 2015 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Lonnie was a retired Construction Worker and believed in the Christian faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Claude & Zona North Huff and his brother; Claude “Junior” Huff. Survivors include two children; Stephanie Huff & Roger Huff and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 1 PM at the HuffCemetery at Big Laurel, KY with the Rev. Eugene Harris officiating with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
