Karen Nan Tackett

 

Karen Nan Tackett, 71 of Loyall, was born on Wednesday, August 21, 1940 at Pine Mountain Kentucky and died on Thursday, January 26, 2012 with her family by her side at Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation in Barbourville.

She is a 1958 Loyall High School Graduate, received her BA at Union College and is a retired Social Worker with Kentucky State Family Services. She is a member of Loyall United Methodist Church where she also was a Superintendent of Sunday School.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Estil Jackson and Lottie Ellis Jackson; her husband, Billy Jack Tackett.

Nan was a devoted wife, daughter, caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her twin sister, Sharon Ann and husband, Leonard Stubbs of Louisville, KY; her daughters, Regina and husband, William Nolan of Loyall and Karen LaVonis and husband, Dennis Miracle of Barbourville. One grandson, William Leo David and wife, Amanda Nicole Nolan of Louisville, KY and her great-granddaughter, Sarah Makenzie Nolan. Also surviving is a very special friend, Janet Miracle.

Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 at Rich Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Rich Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Groves and Father Anthony Muthu officiating.

Burial services will follow at Resthaven Cemetery Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Dewey Cavins, Adam Cavins, Andrew Cavins, Dale Fox, and Graham Johnson.

The family wishes a very special thank you to the Staff of Hospice of the Bluegrass of Harlan & Knox Counties and Barbourville Health & Rehabilitation for all your care and compassion.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. The loss of your Mother is so hard to bear. Nan was a wonderful person. You Dad was my 4th grade teacher. He was a wonderful kind hearted person as well. Iwill always remember your family as part of the mary Helen Church family.May God give you peace and comfort as only he can.

May you take comfort in the knowledge that she is no longer suffering and is rejoicing with our Lord in Heaven. Losing a mother is one of the most difficult losses to endure. Nan was a GREAT 1st cousin. She was always so friendly and always herself no matter where you saw her. She loved to laugh and have fun which was part of her Jackson trait. She will be missed by those related to her and who knew her.
