Raymond Fields

 

Raymond K. Fields, age 61 of Cawood, KY passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at his residence following a long illness. He was born June 23, 1950 in Cawood, KY. Raymond was employed by the Harlan County Board of Education as a school teacher and principal for 24 years and retired due to health complications. He truly loved his job and cared deeply for each of his students.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Hiram Fields and Zelphia (Smith) Fields; his sisters, Lola Maynard and Cuma Lowe; his nephew, Don Noe; and one brother-in-law, John Maynard.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 41 years, Joyce Fields of Cawood, KY; his children, Ray Fields and wife Tara of Cawood, KY, and Michelle Fields and James Jenkins of Cawood, KY; his brother, Hiram Fields; his sisters, Sharon Dean and husband Pete of Cawood, KY and Wanda Skidmore and husband Clarence of Crestline, OH; four grandchildren, Brayden Osborne, Abrianna Lola Sue-Ann Osborne, Jessie Michelle Jenkins, and Asija Marie Rayann Coots. Many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with the Rev. Franklin Stewart and Rev. Gary Craig, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Fields Cemetery in Cawood, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

 

Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I was one of Mr. Fields' students in the late 80's when he taught at Cranks Elementary. He was one of my favorite teachers. I'm so sorry for your loss...He was a very nice person and wonderful teacher. God bless you.

I haven't lived in Cawood since 1976 but I remember Raymond growing up. Mostly while playing basketball on Cawood hill. I am very sorry for the family's loss.
