Layoma StroudLayoma E. “Granny” Stroud, 89, of Baxter left for her heavenly home on Monday, March 4, 2013, at her residence. Born April 9, 1923, in Bell County, she was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and friend to everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carl Stroud; her parents, John Murphy and Martha Campbell Murphy; six children, Jan Lee Stroud, Donald Stroud, Jimmy Stroud, Terry Stroud, Billy Stroud and David Stroud.

Layoma is survived by two children, Connie Smith, Baxter and Robert E. Stroud and wife Kathleen, McHenry, IL; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Loyall Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, in the chapel of Loyall Funeral Home with Reverend Arnold Martin officiating.

Burial will follow at the Resthaven Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Connie, I am so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how you are feeling at this point. Your mother touched many lives during her lifetime, and she will be remembered for doing so. I pray God provides you will comfort and peace during this time of healing.
